brease

The visual identity surrounding the album of the band I play guitar and bass in. On its debut record, brease presents simple, atmospheric songs in the style of acoustic pop, folk, with elements of blues and soul.

I tried to create a graphic framework that captures the mood of the album, which is still in production. I also wanted to provide the band with tools to help tell the story and present a niche, previously unknown artist from a specific perspective.

Which perspective? Thanks to exploratory workshops I conducted within the band and with a group of engaged listeners, we were able to collectively answer key questions about associations with brease's music and the band's image. As it turned out the challange was to navigate between three "friendly, open, warm, sensitive men", "reflective, a contemplative boys band, mysterious musicians", and a "sense of humor, self-irony, mockery".

The main goal was to catch all that moods and emotions into guidlines and templates easy to use across different contexts and media: print (album cover, posters, stickers), social media graphics, and future music videos.

Adam Chabiera - band songwriter and leader - describes his tunes as:

"A form of cleansing, fragments of my teenage emotionality to some extent, and an expression that allows me to move forward. It’s a kind of self-therapy, a conversation with the mirror, a review of the emotional legacy after everything I’ve been through. A pursuit of some inner balance."
